Phones

I found a rotary wall phone at a thrift store for $5, and I connected it to a Grandstream HT802v2 for VoIP service. My server closet is next to my kitchen, so I drilled a small hole to connect an rj11 mounting plate to the ATA.

Voicemails and text messages go to my email. The SIP line is through voip.ms. Landline service here starts at $20 per month, but voip.ms was $1.10 per month for the number, and a tenth of a cent per minute for calls.

I configured the dial plan to allow 7 digit dialing: { <=XXX>xxxxxxxT | [*x]+ } Pulse dialing wasn't on by default, so I had to turn that on too.

ATA in my server closet. Phone mounted on the wall in my kitchen underneath my wok hooks. Phone mounting plate with the cable attached through the wall. Hole through the wall of my server closet.
